Mini-Session vs. Regular Session??? {Portrait Photographer | Canton, GA}

Questions and Answers!!!

*What is the difference between a mini-session and a regular portrait session?
-A regular portrait session is 1 hour in length and is catered to your needs/wants. There are often times location changes and various outfit changes. You receive 20-30 (often times many more) images to proof in an online gallery.
-A mini-session is a session that is only offered on specific days (chosen by photographer, usually 1-2 times a year). They are done in marathon style, meaning I will be at one location (chosen by me), and you choose a time that suits your schedule (times are taken on a first come, first serve basis), and you show up to have your portraits taken during that time. A mini-session offers a shorter amount of time (15-30 minutes), and geared towards my most popular poses. These sessions are great for children that are generally easy to photograph in a short time. Family portraits are also invited for mini-sessions, however - the number of poses and variety is limited.

*Which type of session should I choose?
-Regular sessions are better suited for; those who really want a full variety of poses which can be achieved in a longer window of time, those who have specific dates, times and location preference to do a photo session, those who have children that are generally camera shy, stranger shy, fussy, large families and infants. Generally new clients are more suited towards a longer session so I can get to know them better. It is not an option to photograph your infant at a mini session. The child must be holding his/her head up independently in order to do a mini-session.
-The mini session is perfect for those who are satisfied to receive a smaller variety of images as their final product. There are at least 10 edited photos in a mini. Mini sessions sometimes have a theme and props are made to fit that theme. However, a variety of images will be shot.

*Full Session Tidbits:
- You and I will choose a location together. Often times, clients have a location in mind for their portrait session and we work together to make that work! If no location is preferred, I will offer several suggestions of locations for you to check out! We can change locations during the session if desired.
-Once you have decided on a location, we will decide on a time that best suits your needs (scheduled around nap time, lunch time, etc..).
-You may bring outfits changes to achieve a variety of images in your final proofs.
- If your child is camera shy, fussy, or just not used to having a camera in his/her face - a full/regular session allows time for the child to become acquainted with the camera/photographer. This type of sessions allows for breaks for playing, snuggles, conversation, etc...

*Mini-Session Tidbits:
-The location is chosen by the photographer. Location is chosen based upon the amount of sun vs. shade available, comfort to clients (I like to have a restroom/drinks available to offer!), location, and area in which I will have to set up props as well as the area available to get a variety of poses.
-I offer sessions all day in 15-30 minute sessions. You choose your time based on a first come, first serve basis.
- Outfit changes are completely up to you during a mini-session. However, often times, changing a child's clothing upsets them and we do not want an upset baby!! Also, when you take the time to change clothes, you are taking time away from shooting.
- If you are late for your mini-session, I have to continue working. This means if you arrive late and there are only 10 minutes left during your time frame, you will receive 10 minutes of shooting and your final number of images may be altered.
- Due to the nature of a mini-session marathon, if your child is fussy, not happy, camera shy, etc...the show must go on! Of course, we will do our best to get your child to smile, be natural, etc...but if the child cries most of the session - you will more than likely have a fewer number of final images.

*Price Difference?
-Regular Session Fee: $125/$150 (newborns). This session fee does not include a CD, prints, or any other product. All prints products are purchased separately. You can find the prices for these products on my website under the product pricing tab. After your session, you will have a password protected online gallery in which to view your proofs (usually 20-30+). From there, you will chose what you would like to purchase, whether it be a 4x6 or a CD of all images. There is a $150 purchase minimum.
-Mini-Session: $100-150 (price ranges depending on type of session) one time fee. (prices subject to change with each mini-session, please refer to latest ad for mini-sessions to see current advertised price). This price INCLUDES session and CD of edited images ready to print (10 images) from your session. Your CD will arrive in your mail about 2 weeks after the session. A mini offers a shorter time, a small number of edited photos and a lower price.

- Mini-sessions are ONLY offered on the days advertised. You can keep up with my current mini-session schedule by following this blog or my facebook page. I typically offer this deal twice a year.

-If you have any questions or concerns regarding which type of session to choose for your child/family, please contact me for more information!
